Lao Tsu, in a one of his many moments of inspiration said, “The journey of a thousand miles must begin with your first step” and Bilbo Baggins, equally inspirationally said “I am going on an adventure”. What unfolded after each of their respective first steps is well documented but what has not been researched is what would have unfolded had they discovered the escapades that await those who dare, in Donegal. Perhaps that’s for the best because even the greatest minds can only cope with so much beauty and wonder at a given time. Our suggestion, as to coping with the enormous wealth of experiences to be tucked away in your minds eye, is to try and plan for at least three days in Dun na nGall in order to facilitate different and diverse events and scenic regions. There is no better place to begin than in Dungloe as it is a perfect starting point for each day’s episode.
