Approached from the R256, this hike tackles the two Aghlas which lie between Errigal, Lough Altan and Muckish. This walk is described as a moderate 12.4Km hike. There is no trail, except for peat bog access tracks at the start and finish and it crosses bog and heather ground so wet weather hiking footwear is essential. There is room for a couple of cars at the side of the R256 at the start and you cross the bridge and take the bog road to begin the hike. Best to travel this route after a dry spell as the going can be quite heavy after rain. For detailed map see alltrails.com. For detailed descriptions and alternate routes see mountainviews.ie
