A warm welcome awaits you at Carrown Tobar House in Oughterard, the gateway to Connemara – an ideal base for your Connemara adventures, be it hiking, angling or simply touring the magnificent landscape. In a quiet rural setting, Carrown Tobar House is nevertheless just a short 5-minute stroll into Oughterard village with its quaint bars and restaurants.  Oughterard is a thriving village on the shores of Lough Corrib, the largest lake in the Republic of Ireland and a popular destination for anglers. The village also boasts an 18 hole championship golf course which nestles on the bank of the Corrib.

A natural born host, Gerry will welcome you into his home with a gentle smile and a wealth of local knowledge. All rooms in Carrown Tobar House are ensuite with TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Free wifi is available throughout the house. A trained chef, Gerry also offers evening meals for those who do not wish to venture into the village (advance booking required) and the summer months it is possible to  enjoy your evening meal outdoors or to have a barbecue in the outdoor dining area. Needless to say, the outstanding breakfast is also prepared to order using fresh local produce.
